So I come across this story last night by accident while looking for something completely different and it grabbed my attention because of the headline.
Bottle of water in car starts a fire. Now like you are right now, I’m thinking to myself…how does a bottle of water start a fire? I generally always have a bottle of water in my truck.
When the sun hits a plastic bottle at the right angle, the water in there can act like a lens, and concentrate the light on one specific point. It’s exactly like that horrible friend you had as a kid who burned ants with a magnifying glass. Under the right conditions, that pinpoint of light can cause smoldering, or worse. Who would have thought!
