Parenting is not an easy job. Sometimes you need to lay down the law; and the way a mother of father does it is the difference maker that separates them as “friend” to a “parent.” So that requires some strict rules right?
I came across a list that I found pretty related able. Like “Did your parents ever ground you? Only 54% of people said they were grounded as a kid. I was ground maybe three times in my life time growing up. The funny thing when I was “grounded for two weeks” knowing my parents I just had to wait one or two days and they would forget I was grounded. I didn’t really have a bed time either. Well I did, but I would usually just sneak out of bed – to the living room and watch T.V. after my parents fell asleep. So to answer the question “Did they limit your TV or Internet hours?” I can confidently say “They tried”. Next question, “Did you have to make your bed every morning?” No, never to be honest; I don’t think any one in the house made their bed. What else? “Were you allowed to watch R-rated movies?” 56% said they were. I’ll say I was part of 56% sometimes not always though.
There’s a few more I listed for you below for you to answer for your self.
I can’t say my parents were overly strict when I think about it; I kind of wish they were more strict. They definitely did the best they could to the best of their ability and I maybe wasn’t the easiest kid to deal with. I remember how I was an why I did what I did or didn’t do. I also remember where I wish my parents said “No” when I was getting a little to out of line. I’ll be a better parent for it though….hopefully.
