A guy in Connecticut got a 300 dollar distracted driving ticket back in April for using his phone . . . but he says he was eating McDonald’s hash browns. And now he’s going to court to fight the ticket. a judge still found him guilty when he tried to fight the ticket in August.
He requested a re-trial, and he’ll have it next month. And this time, he hired a lawyer for $1,000 . . . which is about the same amount his car insurance went up because of the ticket.
The penalties for distracted driving in the Saskatchewan include a $280 fine and four demerit points as well.
A total of 793 distracted driving offences were reported by Police during the month October. 688 of those offences were cellphone-related, while the other 105 were for driving without due care and attention.
